Akron Community Foundation Receives Large Donation to Endowment

Mary and John Lucken continue to support the community they cherish through another generous $100,000 donation to the Akron Community Foundation (ACF). “The generosity John and Mary show with their gifts to the Akron Community Foundation endowment is unparalleled,” says Mike Hohenstein, ACF Advisory Board Chair. “There continued support will be felt for generations in Akron.”

Since 2006, over $450,000 in grants have been awarded from the ACF endowment to help address community needs in the areas of arts and culture, civic affairs, education, health, and human services. All gifts past and present from the Lucken family have been placed into the Akron Community Foundation endowment. This will ensure the Akron Community Foundation will be able to award grants to benefit the community forever.

The Akron Community Foundation (ACF), an affiliate of the Siouxland Community Foundation, is accepting grant applications. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or a unit of local government and the grant request must have charitable intent and serve the Akron Community. ACF is also accepting scholarship applications for graduating Akron-Westfield High School seniors. ACF awards several $500 scholarships annually to graduating seniors. The grant application and scholarship application can both be found online at siouxlandcommunityfoundation.org and are due by February 1, 2023.
