S/Sgt. Bloyce L. Bruns Memorial Scholarship

BACKGROUND: The S/SGT Bloyce L. Bruns Memorial Scholarship was established in 2025 by John E. Thiel, PhD. to honor S/Sgt. Bruns’ service to his country.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist seniors graduating from Ridge View High School in Holstein, IA in their pursuit of a post-secondary education at an accredited four-year college/university.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating seniors from Ridge View High School in Holstein, Iowa; have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and minimum 20 ACT and attending a four-year college/university. Preference given to students with an interest in agronomy or agricultural related studies.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, school and/or community service activities, and essay evaluation.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: $1,000, not renewable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:
• Completed online application
• Essay
• Official high school transcript
