BACKGROUND: The Richard M. Brown and Sima J. Brown University of South Dakota Knudson Law School Scholarship in honor of Governor Kristi Noem was established in 2021. Richard Brown established this scholarship in memory of his late wife Sima. Dr. Brown also wanted to honor Governor Kristi Noem for her advocacy of personal responsibility.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist students in their pursuit of a law degree at the University of South Knudson School of Law in Vermillion, SD.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be a resident of South Dakota and accepted into the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in Vermillion, South Dakota.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipient is based on undergraduate degree scholastic performance evaluation.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: Three years of full tuition and fees at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law. If awarded student must maintain good academic standing.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by Noon, March 1 and include the following:
• Completed online application
• Copy of official undergraduate transcript
