Macfarlane Family Scholarship

BACKGROUND: The Macfarlane Family Scholarship was established in 2008 by Winifred H. Macfarlane and is administered by the Siouxland Community Foundation, headquartered in Sioux City, Iowa.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist graduating Sioux City high school seniors in their pursuit of a post-secondary education.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating seniors from a public or parochial high school located in Sioux City, Iowa, with a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (out of 4.0). Applicants must be pursuing a post-secondary education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, good character, participation in extracurricular school activities, community service, work history, financial need, and essay evaluation.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: Minimum of $1,000, not renewable.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:
• Completed online application
• Essay
• Official high school transcript
