Lawton Centennial Scholarship

BACKGROUND: This scholarship fund was established in 2005 by the Lawton Centennial Committee with money remaining from the community’s fundraising to commemorate Lawton’s 100 year history.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist graduating Lawton-Bronson High School seniors in their pursuit of a post-secondary education.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating seniors from Lawton-Bronson High School located in Lawton, Iowa, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (out of 4.0).

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, ACT/SAT test scores, school and/or community service activities, work history, and essay evaluation.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: minimum of $250, not renewable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:

• Completed online application
• Essay
• One (1) “Character Counts” recommendation
• Official high school transcript
