BACKGROUND: This scholarship fund was established by the family of long time Sioux City Relays board member Dwight Hauff. Dwight contributed to the advancement of high school and college athletics in the region for over 80 years. Dwight served on the Sioux City Relays board of Directors up until his passing in 2009 at the age of 104.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist graduating high schools seniors who participate in the Sioux City Relays high school events in their pursuit of a post-secondary education.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and have participated in the Sioux City Relays and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. Applicants must have participated in the Sioux City Relays and have demonstrated leadership in track and other school and/or community activities.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as athletic activities, athletic leadership roles, other school and/or community service activities and essay evaluation.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: $2,000, not renewable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:

• Completed online application
• Official high school transcript
• Essay
• List of leadership roles and awards in track
