BACKGROUND: Ben Uhl and Sarah Murray established their family scholarship in 2020 because they were compelled to begin a legacy that would further personal advancement and education for their employees and their families, customers and the community members from areas in which their businesses are located.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist graduating high school seniors in their pursuit of a post-secondary education at an accredited college/university to obtain a 4-year academic degree.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from a high school located in the following counties: Woodbury, Cherokee and Plymouth Counties in Iowa or Wayne County in Nebraska. Applicants must be pursuing a degree at a 2 or 4 year college or university. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as involvement while in high school, extracurricular activities, community service activities, and work experience. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: minimum $1,000, not renewable.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:
• Completed online application
• Essay
• Official high school transcript
