1st Financial Bank USA Scholarship

BACKGROUND: This scholarship fund was established in 2021 by 1st Financial Bank USA.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist graduating seniors from moderate to low income families in their pursuit of a post-secondary education at an accredited college/university.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating seniors from a high school located in Union County, South Dakota. This includes Alcester-Hudson High School in Alcester, South Dakota; Beresford High School in Beresford, South Dakota; Dakota Valley High School in North Sioux City, South Dakota; and Elk Point-Jefferson High School in Elk Point, South Dakota.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as school and/or community service activities, financial need and essay evaluation.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: $1,000, not renewable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:

• Completed online application
• Essay
• Official high school transcript
