PURPOSE: The Sioux City Public Schools Music Participation Endowment Fund is administered by the Siouxland Community Foundation, and is for the exclusive purpose of providing support to Sioux City public schools and nonprofit organizations to enable low-income, Sioux City, Iowa, public school children and their families to participate in both instrumental and choral music programs, including individual lessons. Preference given to initiatives that directly benefit individual students, such as covering costs for providing individual instruction, activity participation fees, personal instrument repair/rental, or other personalized opportunities that help students fully engage in music education opportunities they would otherwise not be able to access due to financial constraints.
ELIGIBILITY: Grants will be made for charitable purposes to nonprofit organizations and Sioux City Public School District schools that:
• Have initiatives for students and their families to participate in music, both instrumental or choral.
• Benefits low income Sioux City Public School students.
• Projects need to break the financial barrier for students that might not otherwise be able to participate in music activities.
EVALUATION: Priority consideration will be given to projects that:
• Result in the greatest good for the greatest number.
• Directly benefit individual students such as covering costs for instruction, participation fees etc.
• Leverage other funds/resources or are developed in collaboration with other nonprofit organizations.
• Increase participation in a current music program by breaking the financial barriers.
Grants can range from $1,000 to $5,000.
