BACKGROUND: The Nancy Luikart Scholarship is administered by the Siouxland Community Foundation headquartered in Sioux City, Iowa.  This scholarship fund was established in 2005 by her family. Nancy was a well known mezzo-soprano soloist and vocal music teacher for thirty years.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist West, East or North High School graduating seniors in realizing their dreams of going to college to pursue a post-secondary education in the field of music.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must be graduating seniors from West, East or North High School in Sioux City, Iowa; and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 and have been involved in music.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, participation in music, extracurricular school activities, community service, work history, financial need, and essay evaluation.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: minimum of $1,000, not renewable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 1 deadline and must include the following:

• Completed online application
• Essay
• Official high school transcript
